How to celebrate Easter on Costa Dorada with BusPlana

Costa Dorada is full of activities to do, especially at Easter. The arrival of spring, the rise of the temperatures and the increase of the hours of sunshine, make it very pleasant to make plans at this time of year. It is a very special time on Costa Dorada, as it is a time when many tourists and locals enjoy the beaches, the sun and outdoor activities.

Processions and religious events

Easter brings with it numerous religious events and many cities and towns, such as Tarragona, Cambrils, Valls, Salou and Reus, hold processions around their streets. If you plan to arrive at Costa Dorada using the AVE Camp de Tarragona train station, you can take the opportunity to visit the capital of the Tarragonés region. Its most popular procession is that of the Holy Burial in Tarragona, held on Good Friday and considered one of the most impressive in Spain. The procession starts at Tarragona Cathedral and goes through the old quarter of the city, allowing you to discover its streets while you watch the procession.

In Reus, there are also events dedicated to Easter Week and the most widespread is the Procession of the Holy Sepulchre, also held on Holy Friday. It is one of the most popular on Costa Daurada, starting at the Church of San Juan Bautista and runs through the historic centre of Reus, with floats representing different moments of the Passion. It is also very easy to reach the town thanks to Reus airport, located just 15 minutes from the city centre.

Finally, we also recommend the procession of Solitude in Salou, on Holy Saturday, and the Procession of the Holy Christ in Cambrils, on Holy Friday. You can travel to these two towns using the regular BusPlana lines, check them out on the website www.empresaplana.cat.

Beaches

Not all the things to do on Costa Dorada during Easter Week are religious events. There are plenty of beaches you can visit taking advantage of the mild spring temperatures. La Pineda Beach is located between Salou and Tarragona and is one of the most popular on Costa Dorada.

Further north, in Tarragona, is Playa de la Savinosa. This is a much quieter area, with a relaxed atmosphere and very wide. It is perfect for enjoying a day with the family in its crystal-clear waters.

If you prefer a smaller beach, don't miss Waikiki beach, a little hidden gem in the town of Tarragona. It is a small cove with crystal-clear waters, surrounded by vegetation and perfect for enjoying a day of peace and quiet and nature.

Finally, the Paella Beach in Torredembarra. About 1.2km long and approximately 80 metres wide, this beach takes its name from one of Catalonia's most typical dishes, paella. Apart from its golden sands and calm waters, it also has a wide variety of activities that can be done in the area, as well as a promenade for a pleasant stroll.

Gastronomy

You also have the opportunity to try the great gastronomic variety of Cambrils. This town is known for its specialities such as rice dishes, seafood and fish, romesco, cava and tapas, among many others. Furthermore, it is a town that is very easy to get around with BusPlana, given the large number of regular lines that we have. Check our website www.empresaplana.cat to choose the one that suits you best.

Have you heard of vermouth? It is a traditional alcoholic drink on Costa Dorada and, in Reus, it is considered part of the local culture. It is usually consumed mainly as an aperitif, before meals, and accompanied by tapas. There are several popular brands of vermouth, such as Yzaguirre, Miró and Perucchi, among others. The centre of this town is just 10 minutes from Reus airport, so it is very easy to get there to discover and taste this popular drink.

Tarragona

Tarragona, apart from its processions and beaches, also allows to travel back to Roman times by visiting the Roman amphitheatre, its walls and museums. You can take the Archaeological Walk that allows you to visit all the monuments of the Roman period and the details that still exist around its streets.

You can't miss the Cathedral of Tarragona, an impressive architectural work dating from the 12th century with Romanesque and Gothic elements. You can also take a guided tour of its interior where you will find numerous chapels, altars and paintings.

Don't miss the opportunity to visit all these places while you enjoy Holy Week. You can use the regular BusPlana lines to comfortably move around, check the schedules on the website www.empresaplana.cat. You can also book transfers on the website www.busplana.com from the Barcelona airport
