How to celebrate World Day of Joy with BusPlana

How to celebrate World Day of Joy with BusPlana

In order to welcome the month of August and the summer holidays, World Day of Joy has been celebrated, every year, since 2010, on the 1st of August. This feeling of pleasure is normally produced by a favourable event, which causes an improvement in our mood, a smile, or, even, laughter.

Joy is a temporary emotion that makes it easier for us to socialise and integrate with other people; it helps us cope appropriately with problems; and it allows us to make great decisions in our lives and experience positive moments. It also has many benefits for people's physical and mental health and well-being, such as improved immune system, increased longevity, reduced stress, better sleep and higher self-esteem.

Origin

The World Day of Joy emerged during a Cultural Management Congress in Chile, when the Colombian citizen Alfonso Becerra came up with the idea of celebrating this day, which was accepted by different international organisations, thus giving birth to this special date in our calendar, which is now universally celebrated in many countries around the world.

It was decided to choose the 1st of August, as it is the start of the holidays for many families, in line with the summer school holidays and the arrival of good weather. Starting the holidays is one of the most satisfying moments of the summer.

Celebrate World Day of Joy with BusPlana

Here are some activities to do on this day, together with your family and friends:

Escape to Costa Dorada: A good option to celebrate this date is to enjoy the beaches and coves that you will find on Costa Dorada, a first-class sun and beach variety, with excellent water quality and complementary services to spend a few days on the coast. Towns such as Cambrils, Salou, Tarragona, La Pineda and Ametlla de Mar, among others, are some of the suggestions for your getaway this August. At BusPlana we offer a wide range of public transport schedules, so that you can get around in a comfortable and sustainable way.

Travel with your loved ones: You can also travel to any city in Europe, accompanied by your family or closest friends, from Barcelona Airport or Reus Airport. Remember that BusPlana offers bus transfers from Cambrils, Salou, La Pineda or Tarragona, to both Barcelona Airport and Reus Airport. Whether your flight departs from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, BusPlana stops at both terminals. Book your trip today and buy your bus ticket in advance on our website. Or, if you prefer to visit a city in Spain, BusPlana also offers a bus service to the AVE Camp de Tarragona station.

Visit Barcelona: Another proposal that you can take advantage of to enjoy the Day of Joy is to visit the monuments, museums and neighbourhoods of Barcelona. There are various BusPlana excursions available to get to know all the nooks and secrets of the city, in depth. One option is the 'Barcelona City Centre' tour, to see the historic and commercial centre; or, if you prefer, the 'Barcelona Sightseeing' tour, to explore the city's most outstanding squares and streets, and visit the main monuments and museums.

Fun at PortAventura World: The theme park par excellence in Catalonia, PortAventura World, offers a wide variety of attractions and activities so that you can spend World Day of Joy in the most fun way. If you are going to PortAventura from Reus Airport, Camp de Tarragona AVE station, Salou, Cambrils, La Pineda, Reus or Tarragona, check the schedules available on our website. Also, if you land at Barcelona Airport, remember that you have the BusPlana transfer schedules, you can find out more by clicking here.

Trip to Zoo and Aquarium: If you want to spend the day accompanied by your family and the youngest members of the family, we suggest you take the joint trip to Barcelona Zoo, which contains more than 7,000 specimens of animals from Europe; and Aquarium, with up to 35 aquariums, with species from the tropics and the Mediterranean Sea. You'll be able to enjoy the day while discovering the biodiversity of our immediate surroundings and in more distant ecosystems.

Excursion to Montserrat and Simón Coll Chocolate Factory: If you are passionate about quality chocolate and would like to discover how it is made, we suggest you choose the BusPlana excursion 'Montserrat and Simón Coll Chocolate Factory'. You will be able to enjoy a unique sensory experience, visiting a workshop that has been working with chocolate since 1840, from the beginning to the end of the creation process. You will visit the production lines, and the history of Simón Coll factory will be explained to you, as well as being able to taste freshly made chocolate.

Sports and water activities: Along the coastline of Costa Dorada, you can enjoy a wide variety of sporting activities, such as hiking along the different paths along the coast; cycling along the exclusive and coexistence lanes by the sea; or practising calisthenics in the specific facilities on the beaches. There are also water activities available, such as kayaking, snorkelling and paddle surfing, among others, with which you can delve into the underwater world.

Did you find all these proposals interesting? At BusPlana we make it easy for you to celebrate the World Day of Joy, providing you with regular transport lines, as well as transfers from Barcelona Airport, Reus Airport and Camp de Tarragona AVE station to Tarragona, Reus, Cambrils, Salou and La Pineda.
