Vila-seca and La Pineda Summer Festival: Culture, Music and Tradition

Vila-seca and La Pineda Summer Festival: Culture, Music and Tradition

Every summer, Vila-seca and its coastal area, La Pineda, come alive to celebrate their Summer Festival, an event that blends tradition, leisure, culture and family fun. From late July to early August, around the feast days of Sant Jaume and the Invention of the Body of Sant Esteve, the town offers a full programme of activities for all ages and interests. And with BusPlana you can get there easily: direct connection from Salou, Cambrils, Tarragona and more. We are also the official airport transport, so you can purchase official tickets online for transfers from Barcelona Airport to Costa Dorada.

Experience the Essence of Summer

The Vila-seca and La Pineda Festival is not just a series of events, but a way to feel and share the Mediterranean summer at its best. During these days, the streets burst with colour and music, and laughter from both children and adults' echoes in every corner. It is a complete celebration: popular tradition, local culture, family leisure and good music. If you are looking for a festival that brings together the sea, culture and fun in a Mediterranean setting, this is your place.

In Vila-seca and La Pineda, the essence of summer is in the air: in the pleasure of eating an ice cream while strolling along the Passeig Pau Casals, in the excitement of seeing a human castle slowly rise, in the complicity of sharing a glass of flambéed rum while listening to habaneras that evoke other times. Also, in the excitement of the little ones as they run after the giants and big-heads or take part in workshops and games.

There is no better time to discover Vila-seca's warm and welcoming spirit that makes every visitor feel part of the community. Locals, visitors and tourists come together to celebrate culture, live music, fire and tradition.

If you are passionate about Catalan culture, these days are a unique opportunity to get closer to centuries-old traditions that are still alive thanks to the efforts of the ‘colles castelleras’ (human tower groups), the ‘diables’ (fire-running devils), the musicians and all the local organisations that work year-round to create a programme that blends tradition with modernity. And if you are travelling with children, Vila-seca and La Pineda are perfect destinations for a family holiday, as there are activities designed for them every day.

Calendar of Activities for the Local Festival

Children's and Family Activities

Children play a major role in this summer festival. Throughout the festive week, they will find endless activities designed for their enjoyment in Vila-seca and La Pineda

On Friday, 25 July, the day of Sant Jaume, in the afternoon, starting at 7 pm, the festivities begin in the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet with the family show ‘INKOGNITO’ by La Cia. Express.

On Saturday, 26 July, at 7 pm, in the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet, enjoy the Diada Castellera, with performances by the Xiquets de Vila-seca and the Colla Vella de los Xiquets de Valls. And on the same day, starting at 10:30 p.m., the eagerly awaited children's Correfoc, where the little devils of the Ball de Diables infantil de Vila-seca will parade through the streets, accompanied by the magic of fire.

On Sunday morning, 27 July, the most eagerly awaited sporting event for children and young people is the swim across Platja de la Pineda, an activity that combines sport and fun in a natural environment. That afternoon, the Cercavila del Seguici Tradicional is also planned, where all the festive elements of the municipality will fill the streets of the town, accompanied by guest groups.

On Wednesday 30th July, the Rambla de Catalunya hosts a circus and theatre show, where the Los Barlou company will present their show SetUp, full of humour and action. And on Thursday 31st, the little ones will also be able to enjoy the Rocket Carnival Clownz show on the Rambla de Catalunya.

Other options for children include the show A la fresca and the eagerly awaited Correfoc petit, both on Friday 1 August; and on Sunday 3 August, the day of the Invention of the Body of Sant Esteve, the Representation of the Ball de Sant Esteve, in Plaça de I'Església.

A Wide Range of Shows and Concerts

On Friday, 25 July, at 9 pm, in the Parc del Pinar de Perruquet, enjoy a moving performance of habaneras with a tasting of burnt rum by the group Ultramar, where sea music will create an intimate and traditional atmosphere. The night will continue with a tribute to the Queen of Pop, La Oreja de Van Gogh, and a session by DJ Alex Despahse, on the Passeig Marítim (Pinar de Perruquet), which will prolong the party with contemporary rhythms and a festive atmosphere.

On Saturday, the 26th, starting at 11 p.m., the sky above Racó Beach will light up with a spectacular fireworks display, putting the finishing touch on the festivities. And to end the day, the Passeig Marítim will be filled with music with a concert by The Big Mouthers, one of the most eagerly awaited performances, which will bring together hundreds of people ready to dance until the early hours of the morning.

On Saturday, 2 August, at 11.30 pm, there will be a big festival concert at Parc de la Riera with Figa Flawas and Xaranga Tocats de La-la. This will be followed by the best covers with Fugados de Alcatraz.

On 3 August, the great Correfoc will take place, starting at 11 p.m. from Plaça dels Països Catalans and ending at Via Máxima, where Dragon Coeters will surprise us with a spectacular fireworks display.

The youthful vibe at the Town Festival

On Thursday 31st, at 6 pm at the Societat El Fènix, the Nit Jove will kick off with a powerful session of reggae sound system and electronic music, until 1:30 am. It is a night designed to enjoy an alternative atmosphere, with rhythms that invite you to move from the first beat.

But when we talk about young people's parties, we also must mention Espacio CUBIK, a place that has become emblematic within Vila-seca's summer programme. Located in the courtyard of the Escola Sant Bernat Calvó, this venue will open its doors on Friday, 1 August, at 11:30 p.m. with a session by DJ Rubén Romero, who will keep the venue rocking until 4 a.m.

That same Friday, young people can warm up at 10 p.m. with a free concert by Vergüenza Ajena in the Plaça d'Estudi, one of Tarragona's best-known rumba groups, who will bring their energy, their carefree rhythm and their usual connection with the audience. It's a perfect plan for those who prefer live music and outdoor parties before hitting the dance floor at CUBIK.

The youth programme will continue on Saturday, 2 August, with a new Nit Top at Espacio CUBIK, this time organised by the Vila-seca Electronic Music Association (AMEV), which will be in charge of setting the pace for an evening full of local talent, high-level mixes and a carefully crafted atmosphere.
