What is the Costa Dorada Historic Rally?

The RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Dorada Histórico is much more than just a motor racing event. This is a highly prestigious competition organised by the RACC, combining various elements such as sporting events, competitive stages and exhibitions. The event focuses on historic vehicles from different categories, such as Pre81, Pre90 and Pre2000, which once again take to the legendary roads that once formed part of the Rally Catalunya-Costa Dorada. Its main aim is to pay tribute to classic motorsport through a demanding and authentic sporting format, reviving the essence, competitive spirit and historical legacy of one of the most iconic events on the rally calendar.

Where the rally takes place: Reus and Salou

Once again, Reus and Salou are established as the main hubs of this rally, playing key roles in the running of the event. Reus will host the technical and administrative scrutineering, as well as the closed park, which will link the two stages and mark the end of the competition. In addition, the FiraReus exhibition centre will be home to the sole service park, which the teams will need to access on several occasions. Meanwhile, Salou will be the venue for the rally’s official start. The organisers are supported by the town councils of both cities, the Tarragona Provincial Council’s Tourist Board and Esportcat, the Catalan Government’s sports agency.

Rally categories: speed, regularity and exhibition

At the tenth edition of the RallyRACC Catalunya-Costa Dorada Histórico, participants can enter five different categories, each tailored to a different approach. These categories are Speed (with timed stages), Legend (exclusively for exhibition purposes and without time measurement), Regularity Sport (maximum average speed of 70 km/h), Regularity (limited to 60 km/h) and Legend RS (no timing, but with the same regulations as Regularity Sport). As in previous editions, a special Volant RACC Clàssic classification has been established, intended for the Regularity and Regularity Sport categories, open to any vehicle that competed in the RACC promotion trophy between 1979 and 1996, with no age restriction on drivers.

Stages and the course of the event

The first day of the RallyRACC Catalunya–Costa Dorada Histórico marks the official start of the event with administrative and technical scrutineering, a process during which the teams’ documentation is checked and the vehicles are inspected to ensure they comply with the required regulations. This phase ensures fairness and the smooth running of the event. Once these are complete, Stage 1 gets underway from Salou, amidst a crowd of eager spectators. On the second day of the RallyRACC Catalunya–Costa Dorada Histórico, Stage 2 takes place, which will be decisive for the final result. The teams tackle the final timed stages, where consistency, precision and experience play a key role. At the end of the day, the excitement moves to the Podium in Reus, the venue for the prize-giving ceremony. There, the efforts and achievements of drivers and co-drivers are recognised, surrounded by fans and officials. This closing ceremony puts the finishing touch to the rally, cementing the event as a meeting point and celebration of historic motorsport at both national and international level.
