Grup Plana renovates 100 of its 600 buses and expands its Reus and Hospitalet bases
  • The company has invested 17 million euros this year to renew the fleet and expand the facilities, which will reach 100,000 m² at the beginning of the year.
  • Grup Plana has also replaced and upgraded nearly 20% of the fleet, the largest renovation the company has ever carried out.
  • The objective of this renovation is to promote sustainability, safety and accessibility for the people with reduced mobility, as well as the quality of services.
  • Grup Plana is a leading road passenger transport group in Catalonia: it will end 2023 with more than 20 million people transported.

Grup Plana has invested 17 million euros this year to address the increasing demand for road transport services.

The coach renovation has consisted of the purchase of 100 vehicles equipped with the latest technologies for emission reduction (particle filters, gas treatment systems, among other improvements). All of them stand out for their maneuverability and reduced fuel consumption, which helps to minimize particle emissions and other elements deriving from combustion. They are also equipped with lifting platforms to facilitate accessibility for persons with limited mobility.

Within this renovation, stand out 17 new buses purchased from Scania and MAN, two leading names in the transport sector. They have Euro6E technologies and are adapted for people with limited mobility, incorporate blind spot sensors and also advanced technological equipment, such as cameras and efficient bodywork that reduces consumption by 15%.

More than 80 buses with Euro6D and Euro6C technologies have been added, replacing vehicles with Euro4 and Euro5 emissions. In this way, Plana already has the majority of its fleet in Euro6 vehicles, thus contributing to a significant reduction in emissions.

100,000 m² of available space

In 2023, the company has made a major commitment to the growth and sustainability of the available space. Specifically, it has invested more than 5 million to expand the Reus bases, which will have more than 44,000 m² of surface area and will be able to hold up to 436 coaches and 218 parked cars, and the Hospitalet de l'Infant base, which will double the space to have up to 72 coaches parked in 10,000 m² of surface area.

With these expansions, the Grup Plana bases will reach 100,000 m² of available space and are ready to handle the increase in the number of road transport services it offers. They are also equipped with improvements to reduce energy consumption.

Grup Plana thus consolidates its position in the passenger transport sector, prioritizing service quality, passenger accessibility and safety, and its commitment to sustainability and the environment.
