Cunit introduces new urban bus and expands service to Costa Cunit
  • BusPlana introduces a new vehicle to enhance sustainability, comfort and passenger safety
  • In addition, the route has been extended so that all 16 daily journeys now serve the Costa Cunit residential area
  • Ridership on the Cunit urban bus has increased by 128% over the past 4 years

Cunit's urban transport service has taken a step forward with the introduction of a new bus operated by BusPlana, equipped with the latest technology in safety, sustainability and passenger comfort.

The vehicle, which came into operation on 14 May, has 24 seats, 12 standing passengers and is adapted for people with reduced mobility.

It features innovative technology such as the ECO Driver® system, which assists the driver in reducing fuel consumption and emissions, lane-keeping assistance, a fatigue detector system and new elements to improve passenger comfort such as Wi-Fi and a bicycle rack.

BusPlana has been operating the Cunit urban bus line for years, and has been renewed for a further four years. Another of the new developments introduced has been the extension of the route. Since last December, the 16 daily departures now serve the Costa Cunit residential area, up from only 4 previously.

With this new vehicle and a wider coverage, BusPlana reaffirms its commitment to sustainable and accessible mobility, committed to providing a modern, connected service, and designed to meet the needs of Cunit residents.

More passengers and high satisfaction with the service

The number of people using the Cunit urban bus has increased by 128% in 4 years, from 20,040 in 2021 to 45,700 in 2024.

An increase that shows how the urban bus has consolidated itself as a key component of daily mobility within the municipality. The main users are residents who use it to go to school, do their shopping or carry out everyday tasks, and the service provides a response to their day-to-day needs.

According to the survey carried out last November, users indicated a 98% overall satisfaction rate with the service. Most of those surveyed use the bus daily for commuting to work or school.
