BusPlana expands the connection between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Vilafranca del Penedès

• From September 4th, Plana will offer twice as many trips on this line on weekdays (23 roundtrips).
• This means one trip every half hour during rush hour and one trip every hour at off-peak times.
• Plana responds to increased passenger demand and facilitates access to educational centres.
• The line is one of 14 operated by Grup Plana in Garraf as part of the road public transport network of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

From September 4th, Vilanova i la Geltrú and Vilafranca del Penedès will be connected every half hour by coach during peak hours on weekdays. BusPlana will double the number of trips it currently offers in order to meet the increased demand from citizens.

Specifically, Plana will offer 46 round trips between Vilanova and Vilafranca (23 daily trips), double the current number, also passing through the municipalities of Canyelles and Olèrdola.

In this way, public transport access between the regions of Garraf and Alt Penedès is promoted, especially in educational centres (UPC-School of Engineering of Vilanova and URV-Graduate Nursing and School of Wine Tourism of Vilafranca, among others).

In recent years with BusPlana operating the Vilanova-Vilafranca line, there has been a steady increase in passengers. Specifically, they have gone from 73,000 in 2020 to 106,800 in 2022, an increase of more than 40%.

This year, from January to July alone, 73,500 passengers have already travelled on this Plana line.

The increase in services between Vilanova and Vilafranca is part of the contract with the Generalitat to promote public transport connections in Catalonia. Grup Plana currently offers public transport services on 74 lines in Catalonia, including 14 in Garraf.
